Visual FoxPro's APPEND FROM and COPY TO commands are incapable of dealing with the Excel 2007 formats. In this post, I present a pretty decent solution to this problem allowing Visual FoxPro developers to import from, export to, and even create the new Excel formats (XLS, XLSX, XLSM, and XLSB) even if Office 2007 isn't installed on the machine running this code.

The directions for installing/registering the DDEX Provider that is included as part of Microsoft's Sedna project for Visual FoxPro is incomplete and, in some cases, just plain wrong.
